About TREE

Mission:
To provide training and work placement opportunities for local people while reducing the amount of waste going to landfill.

Status:
Company limited by guarantee and registered charity.

Background:
TREE was set up by the Greater Village Regeneration Trust (GVRT). The Trust was established in 1999 as an umbrella group focusing on comprehensive redevelopment through creative, imaginative and localised economic, environmental, physical and social regeneration.

GVRT established TREE in 2005 as a non-for-profit social economy business, to tackle issues throughout the area including the development of training and employment opportunities, increasing economic activity and reinvestment of profits from the business into the community. TREE also aims to address other issues in the area such as environmental regeneration, education and volunteering.

What we do:
TREE collects waste wood from the furniture and construction industry, which we sort according to potential use. With this a variety of products are made such as tea light holders, garden planters, wishing wells, bird boxes and house numbers. Check our products section for more.

We also collect wood from local tree surgeons which we carve using chainsaws and hand chisels into wood sculptures. These range from detailed faces to abstract sculpture and garden animals. Our commissions have been placed in a range of settings from private gardens to school play areas.

Working with a skilled furniture maker TREE provides bespoke furniture design and manufacture of household and garden furniture.
